Edible Canada

On a warm spring (almost summer day), there’s nowhere I’d rather be than on an expansive patio enjoying some good eats and a caesar or two.

Heck, you could find me there even on a chilly, nearly “summer” day in Vancouver!

In that true “wet-coast” spirit, I enjoyed an outdoor Sunday brunch just over a week ago at a new favourite: Edible Canada on Granville Island.

The caesars, already rimmed with bacon salt, are garnished with a strip of candied bacon…need I say more?

Brunching with a group here is almost essential; after all, how else would you suggest eating three meals?

As a group we indulged in the lobster mac and cheese, duck confit hash, and wild mushroom eggs benny.

The lobster mac and cheese was decadent, and the choice of shell pasta was perfect as each one was the ideal vessel for the sauce and ample chunks of buttery lobster.

The hash was rich with the duck meat, moist, and the yolk from the two poached eggs on top gave this breakfast a welcome creaminess!

Last but not least, the eggs benedict. I’m hard to please when it comes to hollandaise, but Edible Canada whips up a light one, that doesn’t mask the other fresh ingredients like the earthy wild mushrooms. With a rather dainty presentation, this is surprisingly filling, so a great value in my opinion.

Edible Canada offers wonderful service and even better food smack dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle that is Granville Island.

The only thing that could make it better is some vitamin D in the form of sunshine.

As always, wishing you a stamp of culinary royalty in all of your dining endeavours! xx
