Hidden down a cobblestone street in the heart of historic Gastown, lies an Italian gem. Al Porto Ristorante, while recluse in terms of its basement locale, is bold and assertive in the dishes served.
It is usually a restaurant I would reserve for a special romantic night in the city, but during Dine Out Vancouver (running until February 5th) three courses of the chef’s culinary delights will only set you back $28.
With a three course menu that includes starters like a fresh tomato bocconcini salad with homemade balsamic glaze, entrees like a brochette of prawn, scallop, halibut and salmon on a bed of long grain rice with a saffron white wine cream sauce to bring it all together, and an impossibly light tiramisu with raspberry and chocolate sauces for dessert, I have nothing but praise for achieving a set menu at that price.
If you cannot make it out for this fabulous food festival, I would still highly recommend Al Porto Ristorante as a top choice any night for the food, inspired location, and warm atmosphere.
As always, wishing you a stamp of culinary royalty in all of your dining endeavours! xx
