Gastown is a mecca of fantastic dining options; from elegant restaurants to funky eateries and even meals on wheels, the choices are endless.
So today, when presented with both La Taqueria and Meat and Bread I decided to treat myself to two lunches. Full of protein and carbs, I knew I needed my veggies and fruit for the day, so I stopped by the Juice Truck for a smoothie – turns out it was filling enough to count as a half lunch! Here are the delicious details of my day.
La Taqueria (4 Meat Tacos / $9.50)
- Pork Confit Taco – The meat was incredibly tender, and the pickled red onion added a nice note of acidity, but I needed a touch of spice.
- Beef Tongue Taco – Don’t be scared off by the name; the meat is so succulent, you’ll find it hard to go back to a regular ol’ steak. The made-in-house salsa verde took this taco home.
Meat and Bread (Specialty Sandwich / $8)
- Braised Lamb Neck Sandwich on Ciabatta - The lamb was juicy and tender, the peppery arugula perfectly offset the sweet and sour element brought by the pickled cabbage…And the side of mustard? I need to buy a Costco-sized tub.
The Juice Truck (Smoothie / $7)
- Avocado and Pineapple Smoothie - The Juice Truck team is serving up scrumptious smoothies with a smile and top-of-the-line ingredients. No fillers here, this is the real deal.
